General care required after eyelid operation!

After every cosmetic operation there are some precautions that are essentially important to be followed. Likewise after eyelid operation some dos and don’ts are there, suggested by the surgeons that must be followed.

Following are those few instructions and information:

• Sutures should be cleaned regularly so that incision doesn’t start bleeding.
• To remove mucus, warm compresses should be done adequately.
• Regular visit to the surgeon is important, because sometimes sutures get untied or break.
• Do not right away apply ointment after the sutures are removed. You can start applying it before going to bed.
• Apply warm compresses at least once a day, for about four to five days.

• Do not apply makeup to eyes, as it may cause reactions. However, a light application of a concealer make-up can be applied to the upper cheek area in order to hide the bruising.
• Patients should not drink and smoke.
• One would look not-so-good for first few days, but gradually with time bruising and swelling will go away and hence a difference can be seen on the patients face.
• Do not use contact lenses.
• Patient needs to keep be calm, as nothing will happen overnight. The scares will go gradually.
• Incisions may turn red after the operation, but with time it will fade.
• One may feel itching for few months, but he or she needs to keep their hands away from the eyes.
• Tightness or numbness would be there on the eyes after the operation.
• The degree of swelling would be different in both the eyes; therefore, patient should not evaluate the success of surgery on this.
